Impact spends BT40 million for protection against H1N1

IMPACT Exhibition Management Company Limited, Thailand’s leading exhibition and convention center, has established "We do, We Care" campaign and put strict measures to place against the pandemic influenza type A (H1N1) virus.

IMPACT carries on to place high level of importance on implementing strict measures in areas related to meeting and exhibition services in an effort to prevent the spreading of influenza type A (H1N1). The safety measures are of particular importance as the government and the Ministry of Public Health has issued to temporarily stop some activities such as concerts and shows until the end of July regarding influenza type A (H1N1).

Mr. Paul Kanjanapas, Managing Director of IMPACT Exhibition Management Company Limited, said the strict measures had been enforced since July 15. The company has also  ordered state-of-art equipments including 10 thermo scanners, 60 infrared thermo guns and 60 automatic hand spray cleansers, costing over 40 million baht.

Last weekend 5 thermo scanners and 19 infrared thermo guns were in place with all other equipments being delivered and installed by the end of July. The company has also ordered 200 automatic hand spray cleansers imported from Italy at 35,000 baht each which will be placed in every entrance and meeting room.

IMPACT has also installed filters for air conditioning units valued at 1.5 million baht at IMPACT Arena and each exhibition hall plus an air refined system in every area including all rooms, ballrooms and office building

Additionally, IMPACT hires ambulances, nurses and assistance nurses to take care of all visitors during events and has also prepared special isolation room for organizers if there is a visitor with the suspected virus

"We believe it is our responsibility to put all equipments in place to protect all parties who visit our venue. However, the organizer is responsible for giving details of the facilities we provide at our venue."

Mr. Paul added that the company had hired Property Care Services (Thailand) Company Limited (PCS), the expert in sanitizing and deep washing, to be responsible of the Super Deep Cleansing Days carried out on a regular basis. The total of 218,122-sq. m area comprising IMPACT Arena, IMPACT Challenger, IMPACT Exhibition Center, IMPACT Convention Center, Office Building and surrounding area will be assigned for deep sanitization.

Regarding the campaign "We Do, We Care", we had set up a War Room to brainstorm and update information and conclude the solution on a daily basis because IMPACT wants to restore the confidence of international and local visitors, organizers, state agencies and business partners and to affirm the IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center’s readiness and potential to protect as much as possible from the virus..

"We do all the preventive measures as we care for all customers as well as Thailand’s MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) business" Mr. Paul said.

According to the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), total of 41 billion baht is expected in 2009 from 500,000 business visitors and 500 MICE events.
