The new route offers direct jet flights daily from Sunday to Friday from Newcastle to the major Norwegian city, which is both a major business destination due to the proximity of North Sea oil fields as well as a touristic base with a charming old town.

bmi regional is delighted to announce the forthcoming launch of flights between Newcastle and Stavanger, Norway, which will take to the skies on 31 May, 2016 and will go on sale from 29 April, 2016. The new route offers direct jet flights daily from Sunday to Friday from Newcastle to the major Norwegian city, which is both a major business destination due to the proximity of North Sea oil fields as well as a touristic base with a charming old town.

All passengers will enjoy a 20kg checked baggage allowance, complimentary in flight bar and snack service, speedy 30 minute check-in and allocated 2:1 seating, all of which come as standard with the business-powered airline, and are appreciated by discerning leisure travellers too.

Commenting on the route launch, Jochen Schnadt, Chief Commercial Officer said: “We’re excited to be adding this route into our network and with it Stavanger as our latest addition to our growing network of key business locations. Leif Anker Lorentzen, Airport Director of Sola Airport, Stavanger said: “It's always nice to introduce routes that will drive additional business and leisure travellers into the region. We work to ensure good and effective international connections, and aim to showcase our region that the endless possibilities it offers. We are pleased with the possibilities airlines such as bmi regional provide for Stavanger Airport. This demonstrates a vast focus on the municipality of Rogaland, during challenging times for the industry in this region

Leon McQuaid, Aviation Development Manager Director at Newcastle International Airport, said: “We are delighted that bmi regional will be operating this new Stavanger service. Norway is an important business and trade link for the North East as well as being a popular destination for leisure travellers. For tourists, Stavanger boasts original dockside warehouses and pretty 18th-century streets. The old city has a lovely collection of wooden buildings and is airy and light. The recent oil boom has meant that the wider offering is now contemporary and sophisticated, with great shopping, sophisticated hotels and a plethora of fine dining options.  Most nights, especially in summer, the city's waterfront comes alive in the best tradition of port cities.
