BoltBus to launch service in California on Oct. 31

Premium non-stop service expands to the Golden State.

DALLAS – BoltBus, a popular bus line offering premium on-board amenities including reserved seats, free Wi-Fi and everyday low prices, announced it will launch service in California on Oct. 31. BoltBus will now connect three major cities, including Los Angeles, San Jose and Oakland. In celebration, the company will offer $1 fares on every seat for travel between Oct. 31 and Nov. 3, the first four days of service. Tickets are now available for purchase at BoltBus.com.

Premium on-board amenities offered by BoltBus include comfortable leather seats, extra legroom, free Wi-Fi and power outlets. The service, which is largely popular in the Pacific Northwest and East Coast, revolutionized curbside bus service at its launch in March 2008 by offering amenities that are typically found on more expensive travel. Currently, BoltBus provides daily express service in the Pacific Northwest to Seattle; Bellingham, Wash.; Albany, Ore.; Eugene, Ore., Portland and Vancouver, B.C. in addition to its routes between major cities along the East Coast.

“We know Californians greatly value convenient, reliable and affordable transportation options, so we are delighted to offer BoltBus’ services to them,” said David Hall, general manager, BoltBus. “Whether they are planning a weekend getaway or looking ahead at their holiday travel choices, we know they will appreciate our modern amenities, safe transportation record and daily express options.”

From Los Angeles, the new service includes three daily round trips to Oakland and San Jose, with increased frequency on weekends.  Curbside service will be available at the following convenient locations:

  • Los Angeles: Union Station at 800 N. Alameda St.
  • San Jose: Diridon Station at 75 Cahill St.
  • Oakland: West Oakland BART Station at 1451 7th St.

BoltBus tickets are available for purchase in advance at BoltBus.com or from a driver before boarding. One-way fares start at $1, plus a booking fee. The highest fare will adjust based on market demand. The earlier passengers purchase their tickets, the lower the fare will cost. A ticket purchase guarantees a seat on the selected schedule. Walkup tickets will be purchased at full price. All tickets are nonrefundable. A loyalty program, Bolt Rewards, is also available to reward frequent riders with free travel. Riders who take eight trips on BoltBus are eligible for a free one-way ticket trip.
