P&O’s upcoming liner “Iona” ship, to be launched in 2020, features ‘conservatory mini-suites’. This innovation allows for the extension of cabins out onto the balcony – bringing the sea view into each room.

The international hospitality industry is making waves in the development of interior design aboard cruise ships, as brands realise the importance of implementing show-stopping design in making their brand stand out from the rest.

One of the most intriguing challenges is how to bring the seascape into the cabin. P&O have been pioneering in their approach to meeting this challenge.

Their upcoming liner “Iona” ship, to be launched in 2020, features ‘conservatory mini-suites’. This innovation allows for the extension of cabins out onto the balcony – bringing the sea view into each room.

P&O Cruises senior-vice president Paul Ludlow said: “Iona’s Conservatory Mini-Suites will certainly make the sea the star, creating a peaceful and flexible space for our guests to enjoy a wonderful ocean view, feel cocooned and breathe the sea air”.

Seabourn have also fully embraced how quality design will impact their passengers. They have utilised over twelve thousand handmade Venetian glass chandelier bowls. Fourteen different sofa fabrics. And one thousand six hundred pieces of art from one hundred and twenty artists, strategically curated by ArtLink.

These are some of the stunning details that have been implemented to create an ultra-luxurious passenger experience aboard the new Seabourn ship ‘The Ovation’, with the support of designer Adam D. Tihany, who also designed ‘The Ovation’s’ sister ship ‘Encore’ back in 2016.

It is these sorts of innovations and eye for design that take centre stage at Marine Interiors Cruise & Ferry Global Expo, powered by SMM, co-located with Seatrade Europe, which is celebrating its 10th year, in Hamburg Germany, 11th-13th September 2019, where visitors can not only converse with attendees and exhibitors from the cruise and ferry industry and establish relationships with CEO’s, senior buyers and planners, but also keep track of the latest developments and advances in cruise ship interior design and innovation.
