The BASS network of elite snowsports schools are running special clinics in three French resorts this winter that make use of the SkiA Sweetspot Ski Trainer to further develop and enhance skiers technique.
The SkiA Sweetspot Ski Trainer is a dry land training device that helps improve centred balance, crucial for developing the subtle movement’s expert skiers make when performing turns, but can take years to master for recreational, holiday skiers.
Now beginners, intermediates and even advanced skiers can take advantage of the trainer to fast-track their centred balance skills with the aid from top instructors from the BASS ski school.
Derek Tate, BASI Trainer and Director of BASS Chamonix and Megeve schools comments, “It’s remarkable how quickly clients become aware of their centre of balance by using the SkiA Sweetspot Trainers. Using the Trainer regularly with clients on courses has shown vast improvements in their performances when they get back on skis on the snow”.
The courses are designed for skiers who can already confidently make parallel turns on blue and red runs but want to progress onto more challenging terrain. Because many recreational skiers struggle to progress onto steeper slopes, in powder snow or bumps, often due to a lack of centred balance skills, the courses focus on this element of learning. “It has been quite amazing to watch skiers with an habitual, unbalanced style coming off the slopes, stepping onto the Sweetspot Trainer and changing almost instantly”, says James Lamb, BASI Trainer and Director of Bass Morzine. He goes onto say, “It is a powerful training aid that will benefit every single skier, regardless of ability”.
All three resorts are within easy reach of Geneva Airport and are all traditional towns with their own special character.
Chamonix is well regarded as one of the world capitals of Freeride and off-piste skiing, but has a number of areas well suited to intermediate skiers too. Morzine is part of the Portes du Soleil ski area, one of the very largest in the world and is ideal for skiers of all levels. Megeve is an authentic mountain town with a mix of rustic charm and up-market accommodation and boutiques. The ski area is interconnected with St Gervais and is suited to all levels of skier from beginner to advanced.
