British holidaymakers set to splash the cash this year, reveals On the Beach

The survey revealed one third (34%) of British holidaymakers plan on spending the equivalent to one month’s salary on their holidays this year, with one in 10 (11%) intent of spending a whopping two month’s salary.

More than a quarter of Brit’s heading abroad this year are planning on spending more on their holidays this year compared to last, with 27% intending on splashing more of their hard earned cash on foreign holidays, reveals leading holiday beach specialist On the Beach.

The online travel agent asked 1,000 Brits about their holiday spending plans for this year and found less than one in five (19%) intend on spending less on their holidays this year compared to last with 51% saying they expect to spend the same amount on their breaks.

The survey also revealed one third (34%) of British holidaymakers plan on spending the equivalent to one month’s salary on their holidays this year, with one in 10 (11%) intent of spending a whopping two month’s salary.

The spending spree continues in resort with almost one in five (19%) saying they plan on splashing one month’s salary on spending money alone for their holidays this year, with a third (34%) expecting to spend two weeks’ salary.

Whilst almost one quarter (24%) of holidaymakers admit to being a little thriftier, spending just one week’s salary on spending money this year, almost one in 10 (9%) are preparing to splash more than two month’s salary on spending money alone.

The survey also revealed that whilst 29% of Brits would sacrifice their holiday in order to ensure they are able to spend on other things such as clothes and night’s out, the majority (71%) said they would give up anything but their holidays.

The survey also revealed the so called staycation a thing of the past, with the majority (82%) saying they would be taking their holidays abroad this year with just 18% saying they would be spending their holidays in the UK.

Alistair Day, Chief Marketing Officer at On the Beach comments: “Holidays are so important to us that it seems we would pretty much give up everything else just to make sure we get our two weeks in the sun. Our survey shows that many British holidaymakers are planning to splash the cash this year with some planning on spending eye watering amounts of money on their holidays.”
