Budapest Airport announces more Wizz Air routes

Five times weekly service to Moscow, Russia in September joins new weekly service to Hurghada, Eygpt from November.

Budapest Airport
has announced that low cost carrier Wizz Air will commence a five times weekly service to Vnukovo Airport, Moscow from 23rd September. The new route will operate year round and marks the airline’s debut in Russia. Moscow’s Vnukovo International Airport is one of the major Moscow airports with quick and easy access to Moscow city which will undoubtedly stimulate further trade, business and tourism between the two cities.

In addition, Wizz Air will launch a new weekly service to Hurghada, Eygpt from 2nd November. The route will operate throughout the winter and marks the first direct flight to the Red Sea resort from Budapest Airport. The second largest city in Egypt, Hurghada is the country’s main tourist centre and offers pleasantly warm winter temperatures, diving and other water activities to escape the Hungarian winters.

This news follows hard on the heels of the announcement that Wizz Air will commence a four times weekly service to Istanbul’s Sabiha Gokcen Airport, from 2nd August and a four times weekly service to the new Dubai World Central Al Maktoum International Airport from 28 October which brings the total number of routes Wizz Air serves from Budapest to 37.

Kam Jandu, Aviation Director at Budapest Airport commented: “We are delighted to welcome all the new Wizz Air routes to Budapest Airport. The diversity of routes offers passengers considerably more travel options as our route map continues to expand, and demonstrates that Budapest’s location makes it a valuable Central European aviation hub. We anticipate these new routes will prove popular for our broad catchment area.”
