Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre sees its 8th consecutive presence at IMEX America delivering results.

KUALA LUMPUR – The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia’s premier award-winning purpose-built AIPC (International Association of Congress Centres) Gold Standard venue, is attending its 8th consecutive IMEX (Worldwide Exhibition for Incentive Travel, Meetings & Events) America 2018, on the back of one of its busiest years of engagement with the North American market. This included an educational visit for Maritz Global Events, a tie up with Marketing Challenges International (MCIntl) and four major US-based events taking place at the Centre in 2018.

The 2018 calendar includes the 22nd Congress of the World Council of Enterostomal Therapists (WCET) 2018, Global Round World Scholar Cup 2018, 31st IFTA (International Federation of Technical Analysts) Annual Conference 2018 and IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) International Conference on Robotics & Biomimetics 2018.

The Centre’s General Manager, Alan Pryor commented, “We have been consistently investing in the North American market over the years to build our presence and secure US-based association and corporate meetings that go offshore. This year we have stepped up our efforts to reflect our commitment to this market and recently engaged MCIntl to represent us to build a consistent presence and a more effective engagement strategy.”

Pryor also highlighted an educational programme they recently hosted, as part of its Global Business Development strategy, for prominent American company Maritz Global Events. The programme hosted by the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre Business Events Alliance (KLCCBEA) was designed to facilitate knowledge exchange and provide a first-hand educational and experiential immersion to Kuala Lumpur and the Malaysia business events landscape.

Speaking on the warm Malaysian hospitality, General Manager, Maritz Global Events, Ben Goedegebuure, said “Kuala Lumpur is an excellent destination and its principal qualities are expertise, value for money, and the exceptional hospitality in this country. It is one of the outstanding international destinations to recommend to all multinational and international delegates that might come to this destination.”

Echoing Ben’s comments, Senior Vice President, Strategic Account Management for Experient, Nancy DeBrosse, shared, “This is my first visit to Kuala Lumpur and the country of Malaysia and I’m really excited to tell you that I’m very pleasantly surprised at the entire city. From the modern buildings and the infrastructure you have in place, to the kindness, politeness and the hospitality of everybody in this city is just amazing.”

“Great value was obtained from the feedback and insights of our guests on not only Malaysia as an ideal and very affordable business events destination, but also what to grasp about the North American market and the need for a stronger and consistent presence in the US,” added Pryor.

Most recently, the Centre won three North American-based association Bids from the medical and information technology sectors to be held in 2020.

“We are also very much looking forward to the upcoming US-based Society for Conservation Biology (SCB) International Congress for Conservation Biology in 2019, which will be utilising our new 11,000 sqm expansion” concluded Pryor.

Attendees at IMEX America can visit the Centre at Booth C3836 to discover more about the fantastic business event opportunities provided by the Centre, Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia.
