Cathay Pacific Airways to launch a new four-times-weekly service from London’s Gatwick Airport

The new service will complement the airline’s current five-times-daily service from Heathrow Airport for a total of 39 flights a week between London and Hong Kong – more than any other carrier.

Cathay Pacific Airways announced that it will launch a new four-times-weekly service from London’s Gatwick Airport on 2 September 2016, subject to government approval. Cathay Pacific will be the only airline that flies non-stop between Gatwick and Hong Kong.

The new service will complement the airline’s current five-times-daily service from Heathrow Airport for a total of 39 flights a week between London and Hong Kong – more than any other carrier. In addition to serving London, Cathay Pacific also offers a four-times-weekly service between Manchester and Hong Kong.

Cathay Pacific will operate the new service from Gatwick’s South Terminal with its brand new Airbus A350-900 aircraft featuring Business Class, Premium Economy Class and Economy Class seats. Together with the premium service provided by Cathay Pacific’s cabin crew and a state-of-the-art inflight entertainment system in all classes, passengers will be assured of the best inflight experience when they travel between London and Hong Kong.

Cathay Pacific’s General Manager Europe, Neil Glenn said: “Cathay Pacific has been flying between London and Hong Kong for 35 years and our commitment to the UK market remains strong. We are delighted to launch a non-stop service from Gatwick to Hong Kong, using our new state-of-the-art A350 aircraft, which will help meet increasing demand for both business and leisure travel between the Asia Pacific region and the UK. These additional flights between London and Hong Kong will provide our passengers with greater choice and flexibility and, at the same time, continue to boost Hong Kong’s standing as an international aviation hub.”

The new service will provide passengers living in Greater London and the counties of Kent, Surrey, East Sussex, West Sussex and Hampshire a convenient way to travel to Hong Kong and beyond via the airline’s extensive hub in Hong Kong. Guy Stephenson, Chief Commercial Officer, Gatwick Airport, said: “Hong Kong is the premier gateway to China and the wider Far East and we are delighted to welcome Cathay Pacific to Gatwick.  This new scheduled service compliments Gatwick’s rapidly growing network of long haul services, which now boasts over 40 destinations on five continents.”
