CMAC partners with Trees4Travel to support carbon neutral future

CMAC customers can now also benefit from the partnership, with the firm able to facilitate tree growing projects on their behalf, neutralising emissions based on the journeys their travellers take through their managed ground transport solutions.

CMAC Group, the Accrington-headquartered, award-winning, global, managed ground transport company, has announced a partnership with Trees4Travel, an initiative launched to achieve carbon-neutral, trackable, business travel.

The move forms part of a wider sustainability strategy for CMAC, with the firm pledging to be carbon neutral by the end of 2023, whilst supporting its customers in their carbon aspirations.

Through the partnership, Trees4Travel will calculate and grow the number of trees necessary to absorb the CO2 emissions produced by CMAC employees during travel, alongside facilities and events, helping to restore eco-systems, biodiversity, and support local communities through employment.

CMAC customers can now also benefit from the partnership, with the firm able to facilitate tree growing projects on their behalf, neutralising emissions based on the journeys their travellers take through their managed ground transport solutions.

Each tree will also be assigned with a share of an investment into a United Nations Certified Emissions Reduction renewable energy program, enabling an even quicker route to supporting the planet’s climate positive future.

With over 2.5 million vehicles in their global network, CMAC is already ensuring that it secures the nearest vehicle to traveller pick-up points to help reduce dead mileage and therefore lessen emissions. Customers are also able to request rideshare options as well as electric or hybrid taxi and private hire vehicles – where available – to further reduce the emissions of their ride.

Peter Slater, CMAC Group CEO, said: “Sustainability in business travel is playing an increasing role in how organisations think about social responsibility and how they manage day-to-day operations.

“We are committed to adopting sustainable working policies and practices which encourage our employees to lessen their impact on the environment and, in 2022, we were accredited with ISO 14001.

“We are also introducing a range of new environmental initiatives which support our clients’ approaches to sustainability, such as Trees4Travel, whilst still ensuring they have access to flexible vehicle solutions and full location coverage.”

Despite the demand for electric vehicles, the taxi and private hire industry continues to face huge challenges in switching to EVs. The main reasons for the slow adoption rates across the industry are due to a lack of charging infrastructure, particularly rapid charging points, which would keep the electric taxis on the road for longer, and the initial cost of a vehicle.

Nico Nicholas, CEO and co-founder of Trees4Travel, added: “We are proud and delighted to be working with CMAC.  A company making genuine strides to reduce travellers’ carbon footprint.  Partnering with Trees4Travel is a ‘next level’ commitment to making business travel planet and people positive to the benefit of us all.”

Responsible for safely moving almost two million travellers annually, on behalf of organisations such as the Home Office, Northern and G4S, CMAC ensures that the end-to-end ground transport experience remains unrivalled.

CMAC is also a corporate ‘silver’ partner of Ribble Rivers Trust, a charity that aims to improve, protect, and promote the River Ribble close to the firm’s head office in Accrington. The charity works to restore areas of the river that have declined, rebuilding the woodland surrounding the river and working with schools to educate children on the importance of rivers for wildlife and people.
