Compared to Delta surge, travelers are now less likely to consider a destination’s mask mandate

Over half of respondents (51%) have canceled or changed plans because of the Omicron variant.

Massive flight cancellations due to Omicron have continued into the new year, proving that COVID-related travel changes are more than just seasonal events.

As new variants of COVID-19 surface, FinanceBuzz was curious to see if (and how) travelers' feelings have changed since the start of the pandemic. To find out, the team at FinanceBuzz surveyed 1,000 U.S. adults about their opinions toward airline mask mandates, international travel, and more.

Key findings:

  • Over half of respondents (51%) have canceled or changed plans because of the Omicron variant.
  • When planning a trip, people are now less likely to consider a potential travel destination's masking rules (63%) than during the Delta surge (69%).
  • Travelers' biggest worry with international travel is getting the coronavirus while abroad and having to quarantine in another country (41%).
