Corethree presents first IBeacon solution with Syntus

Syntus and Corethree confirm that up to 3,000 iBeacons will be used across the Netherlands making this one of the widest-scale integrated smart city and travel solutions in Europe to date.

Corethree, the market leaders in m-ticketing technology, announces its first iBeacon travel application, developed for existing partner Syntus, the leading Dutch public transport operator and part of global transport company Keolis.

Using the company’s proprietary platform Core Engine, the m-ticket will be able to give customers an enhanced experience by linking their journeys with local offers and promotions based on proximity thanks to the iBeacon technology.

Syntus and Corethree confirm that up to 3,000 iBeacons will be used across the Netherlands making this one of the widest-scale integrated smart city and travel solutions in Europe to date. The development will also provide additional loyalty benefits to customers who use their m-ticket out of peak times. This will encourage increased scheduling of journeys and could reduce rush hour congestion.

Ashley Murdoch, CEO Corethree says: “We have been working hard to deliver an iBeacon strategy that will make a significant difference to our clients and their customers. Before we take anything to market we need to be 100% certain it offers genuine value rather than gimmickry.”

He continues: “We fully believe that the Internet of Things will be critical in the future of our business and that the lessons we learn through this recent development will help many other travel operators and other categories to provide a smarter user experience. It’s an exiting time to be innovating in mobile technology, and we want to continue to be at the cutting edge of how we use new developments to be of practical use to the public and our clients.”

Cees Anker, Managing Director Syntus says: “This latest development is game changing for our customers in the Netherlands. Integrating iBeacons with our mobile ticket applications is another step in our commitment to providing the best customer travel experience.”

The following products are available through the app: bus tickets (single tickets) Syntus Super ticket, group letter, event tickets. These products can be purchased before departure and are activated at the time of use. In addition, travelers with the app can buy a digital ticket for another passenger (parent-child) that mounts on his / her smartphone. The travel information schedule of 9292 is also available on the app.

Payment takes place online via PayPal or credit card. In the case of PayPal, purchases can also be paid with the ING or Rabobank App. No card reader is then required.
