Cornwall’s winter connectivity increases with flybe

When its latest airline joins in October, the Cornish airport’s carrier portfolio will consist of 10 in total: Aer Lingus, British Airways, Eastern Airways, easyJet, Edelweiss, Eurowings, flybe, Loganair, Ryanair and Skybus.

Cornwall Airport Newquay (CAN) has announced the return of flybe as the Airport continues to develop its route network. Commencing on 30 October, the regional airline will launch a 12-times weekly connection (double-daily Monday to Friday) to London Heathrow, while also adding a daily link to Manchester. With both year-round routes flown using 78-seat Q400s, the significant network expansion will provide an additional 1,485 weekly domestic seats from CAN this winter.

Maintaining non-stop access to Europe’s busiest hub, and increasing links to the heart of northwest England, is a major development for the Cornish airport: “We’re delighted to be welcoming the new flybe as our 10th airline partner at Newquay. With daily flights to both London Heathrow and Manchester starting this winter, these new routes will add much needed extra capacity as well as additional options for passengers on two of our major markets,” commented Sam O’Dwyer, Managing Director, CAN.

Returning to the skies under new ownership, the reborn flybe aims to take UK connectivity to a new era in a responsible and sustainable way. flybe, CEO, Dave Pflieger, commented: “We’re delighted to begin flights to and from Cornwall Airport Newquay, connecting one of the UK’s most popular year-round leisure destinations. Passengers can benefit from up to twice daily flights from London Heathrow and a daily service from Manchester. Flybe provides passengers with convenience, choice and everyday great value, in addition to offering complimentary tea, coffee, juice and biscuits on all flights.”

When its latest airline joins in October, the Cornish airport’s carrier portfolio will consist of 10 in total: Aer Lingus, British Airways, Eastern Airways, easyJet, Edelweiss, Eurowings, flybe, Loganair, Ryanair and Skybus. With more airlines now than pre-pandemic, CAN has refilled most of its route map: “Offering more airline choice and year-round connectivity is a key focus for us and we’re delighted that this latest announcement offers both of these,” added O’Dwyer.
