Debbie Meihl, CDME – New Executive Director for the New Smyrna Beach Visitors Bureau

2016 kicks off with forward thinking and new tourism initiatives for continued growth, increased tourism partner revenues and county bed tax collections.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FLA. – Having assumed the tourism leadership position mid-December 2015 as Executive Director of the New Smyrna Beach Visitors Bureau, a division of the Southeast Volusia Advertising Authority (SVAA), Debbie Meihls’ major objective in the new year is to heighten attention for the area’s diverse offerings in order to grow visitor numbers in 2016.

“I was drawn here by the unique vibe and heart of New Smyrna Beach and surrounding communities of Edgewater, Oak Hill, Osteen and Port Orange that comprise Southeast Volusia County,” notes Debbie. “I see great potential for managed growth in the tourism sector by increasing midweek and shoulder season visitation through improved marketing and incorporating accredited practices and procedures.”

The seasoned tourism pro joins the SVAA with 20 years industry experience, her most recent post as Executive Manager and Film Commissioner at the Bradenton Area CVB. Also to her credit, Debbie holds several industry certifications including Certified Destination Marketing Executive (CDME) with the Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) and Certified Hospitality Marketing Executive (CHME) via the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI).

Under her administration, housed at the New Smyrna Beach Visitor’s Center at 2238 State Road 44, NSB, the professional and volunteer staff is poised to grow, and new marketing initiatives, including a public relations campaign are being implemented.
