Discover Travel & Tours expands US business

UK inbound tour operator, Discover Travel & Tours, has announced the full acquisition of California based tour operator In Quest of the Classics (IQOTC).

UNITED KINGDOM – Leading UK inbound tour operator, Discover Travel & Tours, has announced the full acquisition of California based tour operator In Quest of the Classics (IQOTC). This long established provider of luxury European tours for independent travellers and small groups is a preferred supplier to the prestigious Virtuoso consortium of leading US luxury travel agents.

“The addition of this long established US business is a key component in Discover Travel & Tours growth strategy” says Andrew Grieve, Managing Director of the Worcester based business. “The tie up was first announced in January and we have spent the past few months planning the full integration of IQOTC into our systems and ambitions which has now been accomplished”.

In Quest of the Classics has been selling customised tours to Britain & Europe in the luxury sector since 1984 under the leadership of Brian Mundy who has now retired from the business.

“Britain, and especially London and Scotland, are key destinations for our product range and expansion plans for 2014. IQOTC is experiencing a strong resurgence in interest and bookings for the UK this summer and in forward bookings for 2014” added Grieve. “There is real confidence back in the US economy and the London 2012 Olympics has definitely put Britain back onto the world’s “must see” destinations”.

The company’s product plans for 2014 include driver guided tours for independent travellers, 5* hotels, and memorable experiences – in line with its vision of delivering distinctive and enriching holiday experiences.
