EL AL launched its new menu for Business Class passengers on flights departing from Israel as well as a new, varied wine menu The menu, created by EL AL’s new chef, Shahaf Shabtay offers a choice of new dishes, including main courses, such as 3-hour asado, fileted tilapia in kadaif and chicken in a cooky bag.

EL AL introduced its new menu for Business Class passengers. Over the past few months, Shabtay created a new culinary strategy for EL AL flights that upgrades the courses served in all classes. Working with Shabtay was the professional team at Tamam – EL AL’s subsidiary catering company.

The new Business Class menu will include the use of diverse quality ingredients and advanced cooking techniques. The aim is to provide a new, exciting culinary experience for the airline’s customers. The menu will be refreshed during the year so as to vary the meals served inflight.

Along with the new menu, a new Business Class wine menu is also being introduced, led by the international wine expert Yair Haidu. The aim is to create full synergy with the dishes served inflight, while maintaining the tradition of serving only Israeli wines on the airline’s flights.

EL AL Vice President Customers & Service Amir Rogovski: “The inauguration of the Business Class menu is part of the strategic process intended to improve both service and product on our flights. The new menus were planned to provide our passengers with a diverse international culinary experience of the highest caliber.”

EL AL Director Inflight Service Division Mira Fizitski: "The culinary facet is a significant and exciting part of the flight experience. We chose Chef Shahaf because, like EL AL, he embodies the qualities of Israel: creativity as well as the desire to change and diversify, to renew and to surprise. And precisely because of the various restrictions on food in the aviation world, the professional challenge facing Shahaf was very great and the results are excellent and exciting.”

EL AL Head Chef Shahaf Shabtay says: “I am grateful to EL AL for the opportunity to be part of this joint creative culinary team and promise to surprise the passengers. Following months of reflection and hard work, I am pleased to present the Business Class passengers with an exciting, inspired and diverse menu. When I devised the menu, together with the professional staff at Tamam, it was important for me to combine quality ingredients with new cooking techniques to create new tastes. I am excited as I embark on this new path and am planning many culinary surprises for the airline’s customers.”
