12 new cities added to the KLM network thanks to a new partnership agreement

KLM<.> has signed a bi-modal partnership agreement with the French national railways operator SNCF<.>. This agreement allows a customer – in France and everywhere in the world – to buy only one ticket sold by KLM and travel agencies, including international flights following or followed by a TGV ticket with departure or arrival in the Roissy CDG TGV train station.

As of March 1st, 13 cities of the French regions will benefit from this bi-modal offer complementing the KLM-Northwest air offer to/from Paris, Lyon, Nice and Toulouse. As a consequence, KLM-Northwest now serve a total of 16 cities in France (Lyon being served both by air and rail).

13 cities connected by the high-speed train TGV

Passengers to/from Lille, Angers, Le Mans, Nantes, Rennes, St Pierre des Corps/Tours, Poitiers, Bordeaux, Lyons Part-Dieu and Avignon TGV, and to/from Valence TGV, Montpellier, and Marseilles, as soon as the product is available, will be able to book their international trip on KLM to/from Paris (via Amsterdam or Detroit) and their connection on TGV on the same ticket.

The full international network of KLM-Northwest now has access to all these French regions, and vice-versa, when connecting times permit.

Arriving at the TGV train station with their KLM-Northwest ticket in hand, at least 20 minutes before departure, the passengers will receive a SNCF coupon at the TGV-Air counter. Their connection at Roissy will last a minimum of 75 minutes for a trip to/from Amsterdam or with a continuation beyond Amsterdam, and 120 minutes for a trip to/from Detroit. Passengers will carry their own luggage in the connection between the train station and the departing/arriving airport.

Exceptional inaugural offer for Flying Dutchman members

Members of KLM`s frequent flyer programme Flying Dutchman will benefit from a double points offer from/to these cities during the same period.

KLM and SNCF: a strong history with the French regions

Improve our offer in France was a key strategic move for us declared Vincent Vogt, General Manager of KLM-Northwest France, KLM has a strong history in the French regions and had to take into account the air-rail complementarity in the long term. This contract is in line with the agreement signed with Thalys on the Antwerpen – Schiphol route, and with the partnership with the rail transport company NS in the Thalys consortium.

The complete KLM-SNCF offer is available for sale on the Global Distribution Systems of all travel agencies worldwide this February.

For Guillaume Pepy, Directeur General Delegue Clienteles at SNCF this bi-modal agreement represents an interesting opportunity for SNCF which aims at developing intermodality and increase the awareness of its TGV offer on the international market by multiplying commercial partnerships with departure or arrival at the roissy CDG TGV train station, under the brand TGV-AIR. In 2001, Roissy CDG train station registered over 1 million trips with an air connection, 20% more than in 2000, with more than 40 TGV per day connecting 50 cities.
