Athens Convention Visitors Bureau was presented few days ago in the marketplace of America at «Motivation Show» , representing Athens in such a grand tourism event. Founding members AHA (Attica Hotel Association), HATTA (Hellenic Association of Travel and Tourist Agencies), AGECO (Association of Greek Exhibition and Conference Organisers) and HAPCO (Hellenic Association of Professional Congress Organizers) took part for the second year in row in the program of tourist promotion of Attica’s Prefecture in Chicago’s exhibition.

During «Motivation Show» exhibition the manager director of Athens CVB, Mrs Kali Travlos, had many contacts with incentives organizers, while interest was excited even for some of the most important world conventions (more than 15.000 participants).

They reached the conclusion that groups with higher budget come from USA. These clients show more interest for the antiquities and they prefer incentives with cruising, especially for groups’ of 40-50 people. They demand a high level of services and choices. Athens is ideal for such events and that is why there is such a demand, which increases year after year.

It is a fact that Athens Convention & Visitors Bureau with Athens establishment as convention destination is now officially the first meeting place for those who are interested, promoting the same time Athens, Attica and tourist abilities of the rest of Greece.

Since the American market spends millions of dollars for specific types of incentives, such as incentive cruises (mega yachts, luxury cruises), it is crucial according to ACVB, to concentrate in the future and in the creation of infrastructure for such type of tourism.

Visitors interested especially in other parts of Greece, while there has been demand for special publications, which are not available yet such as maps, brochures and information publications for communication points, especially in islands.

“With contribution of all the members of the public and private sector who take part, we will be able to compete other established convention destinations and cities and we have tried to increase Athens market share for incentives”, Athens Convention & Visitors Bureau reported in a statement. ACVB has contributed in the increase of this specific type of tourists to Greece thanks to the marketing scheme which applies and it has started fulfilling its purpose.

Athens Convention & Visitors Bureau will participate in the World Travel Market in London and in the EIBTM in Barcelona.
