Private Greek carrier Aegean Airlines<.> is planning to offer flights to Cyprus as part of a move to strengthen its position in the Greek market. The firm has already proceeded to incorporate Air Greece into its operation, while it is also mulling an upgrade of the latter`s fleet.

There have been reports that it has bought 45 percent of the catering firm Athens Aircaters, of the multinational Abela which in 1998 recorded $1.5 billion in turnover.

Additionally, Aegean hopes to increase its share in Goldair Handling, Greece`s largest ground services firm.
