Aer Arann launches flights to La Rochelle from Cork

Aer Arann announced a new route from Cork to La Rochelle, adding to its existing three French routes out of Cork. Aer Arann now flies to five destinations in France from Cork, Kerry, Galway and Waterford. The Cork to La Rochelle service will operate every Saturday effective from24 May to 13 September 2008. All services will be operated by an ATR 72 aircraft until September 2008.

Commenting on the announcement, Colin Lewis, Head of Sales and Marketing, Aer Arann said: “We are delighted to be increasing our network of French routes for 2008. This is Aer Arann’s third route to France from Cork, along with Lorient and Nantes.”

Thomas Juin, La Rochelle Airport Manager: “La Rochelle is one of the most picturesque and historically rich cities on the Atlantic coast. The connection between Cork and La Rochelle is perfect for 2008, as Ireland is the guest of honour at the Grand Pavois – one of the biggest international boat shows in September”.

Kevin Cullinane, Marketing Manager, Cork Airport congratulated both Aer Arann on its announcement saying: “Cork Airport welcomes this latest addition to our ever expanding route network and Aer Arann’s continuing confidence in its French routes from Cork. As Cork has the oldest yacht club in the world, the Royal Cork Yacht Club, and La Rochelle is the home of the oldest yacht club in France, la Societe des Regates Rochelaises, this service will provide great opportunities for sailing fraternities to meet.”
