Radical restructuring plans are expected to be announced by French airlines AOM<.>, Air Liberte and Air Littoral, who have contributed to the crisis at SAirGroup, parent of Swissair this week. The disappearance of the three French-based airline companies would leave Air France, the state-controlled airline without domestic competition other than the state rail network.

Officials should present their plans at works council meetings of Air Littoral and of AOM-Air Liberte in the days to come, seeking judicial protection from creditors for the companies while they undergo restructuring. It must be reminded that SAirGroup has been losing SFr 80 million (or US $47.2 million) a month on its French operations.
