Upper Austria<.>`s chamber of commerce has urged Greek businesspeople to continue to view their Austrian counterparts in a positive light despite the ongoing political situation in the country, the Macedonian Press Agency reports.

In a letter sent to the northern Greek town of Drama`s chamber of commerce, the schism which exists in the new Austrian government along with the new political reality have impacted heavily on Austrian industry, even in the field of tourism.

The letter stated that upper Austrian businesses have already taken measures and lodged protests in an effort to reduce the negative effects for international economic relations.

Both chambers belong to a working group representing 28 members from provinces located on the EU`s eastern borders.

The Austrian chamber further emphasised that the nation does not accept xenophobia and has great respect for freedom and human rights.

Each year, Austria welcomes 16 million tourists, mostly from EU member-states, while more than one million foreigners reside in the country, the chamber noted.
