Bulgarian flag carrier Bulgaria Air is planning to include three new destinations in its summer schedule, the executive director of the company announced.

The new destinations are yet to be specified. The company is conducting large-scale market surveys so that it delivers where it is needed most, Zlatin Sarastov said at the Fifth international conference on tourism Bulgaria – Dream Area, which took place January 6-7 at Radisson SAS Grand Hotel. He was among the speakers at the panel session on the role of international carriers and tour operations in developing the region and the future of Bulgaria as regional convention centre.

Currently Bulgaria Air flies to nineteen destinations, among which are London, Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, Brussels, Madrid, Lisbon, Milan and Frankfurt. The new destinations, which it is to launch, may link Bulgaria to countries not only in Europe, but also in Asia and Africa.

The flag carrier, which holds the largest share on the local airline market, is expecting a growth of 20% in 2006, when it plans to purchase another three Boeings 737, bringing the total number of the luxurious fleet up to twelve.

The company will create special bargain weekend and city break packages for passengers in some of the most popular cultural centres. It will be targeting the growing middle class in Bulgaria, who are likely to fly more and more often.
