Experts are being invited to submit papers for a conference entitled Tourism in island regions and specific destinations which is due to take place on
The international scientific convention is being organised by the University of the Aegean which stated that tourism is a global socioeconomic and cultural phenomenon which contributes significantly to national, regional and local development.
The event is being held as part of efforts to carry out a study of regional tourism development and aims to identify the characteristics of island areas and specific destinations, such as those hosting archaeological treasures or important environmental habitats, and the problems they face.
Various tourism development models will be considered and policy measures proposed while participants will also look at how such regions could benefit from alternative forms of tourism.
The deadline for submission of paper synopses for the conference, where both English and Greek translations will be available, is September 30.
