Niklaus Grob, founder and CEO of Edelweiss Air<.>, will retire from active business life effective 1 January 2002 and hand over the office as President of the Executive Board and CEO to Karl Kistler, who as COO (Chief Operating Officer) has until now headed the daily operations of Edelweiss Air.

After a career of 45 years in the aviation industry, Niklaus Grob intends to retire as of 1 January 2002 and hand over the reins as CEO to his previous Deputy Karl Kistler. The former Swissair and Army pilot Niklaus Grob established the Swiss charter company in 1995 and has led the company as Chief Executive together with his team to the success it currently enjoys. Karl Kistler, who has performed the operational duties of COO (Chief Operating Officer) and has now been appointed Chief Executive Officer, has contributed greatly to the build-up of the airline. The Captain, 49, has moreover successfully completed Management training this year. Christof Aregger, who will continue to be in charge of the Finance and Administration Departments, will assist him as Deputy.

Edelweiss Air, with Kuoni Travel Ltd. as principal shareholder, today operates a fleet consisting of three planes of the type A320 and one Airbus A330-200.

Edelweiss Air generated turnover of CHF 105.8 million in fiscal 2000. It employs a staff of some 200 persons. Its core business consists of flights to all popular beach holiday destinations on the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands and at the Red Sea. To this must be added long-haul holiday destinations in the Caribbean, North America, Africa and the Indian Ocean. Edelweiss Air is a byword for quality, punctuality and the smooth course of its flight operations.
