Change on the Supervisory Board of Central German Airports Group

At the ordinary meeting of the General Assembly of Central German Airports Group

At the ordinary meeting of the General Assembly of Central German Airports Group Detlef Schubert was elected Director of the company’s Supervisory Board.

Detlef Schubert is Deputy Mayor of the City of Leipzig (Head of the Department of Economics and Labour) and head of the city’s Economic Development Office in one. The former Mayor of the City of Leipzig, Wolfgang Tiefensee, resigned his membership of the company’s Supervisory Board after being appointed Federal Minister of Transport, Construction and Urban Development. His successor Detlef Schubert already represents the City of Leipzig on the Supervisory Board of Leipzig/Halle Airport, which is a subsidiary of the Central German Airports Group.

The City of Leipzig is a minority shareholder of Central German Airports Group. Major shareholders are the Free State of Saxony and the State of Saxony-Anhalt. Further shares are held by the cities of Dresden and Halle/Saale.

Willi Hermsen, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Central German Airports Group, praised the former Mayor’s record as a Board member: “Wolfgang Tiefensee effectively fathered development of the Central German Airports Group during the previous five and a half years. His vigour and personal commitment was instrumental in building up the group.” Hermsen continues: “I am very pleased with Detlef Schubert`s election. He has an excellent knowledge of the regional economy. Building on his cooperation at Leipzig/Halle Airport, Schubert`s appointment to the Supervisory Board promises to become an asset to the entire Central German Airports Group.”

The Central German Airports Group (Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG) is a publicly-owned company. The groups` aim is to develop Germany`s central-region airports, serving their current and future needs. The group includes the subsidiaries Leipzig/Halle Airport, Dresden Airport, PortGround and EasternAirCargo. With revenues of about 80 million Euro, the group in 2005 will handle in total 75 thousand air traffic movements as well as 3.9 million passengers and 23.3 thousand tons of cargo.
