The Dominican Republic will be prominently featured as the next partner country of the ITB Berlin, which is due to take place from 5 to 9 March 2008. The country’s Minister of Tourism Felix Jimenez revealed the agreement with ITB at the opening of the XI Bolsa Turistica del Caribe (BTC) in Santo Domingo.

Raimund Hosch, CEO of Messe Berlin, commented: “The Dominican Republic is now firmly established in world tourism as a year-round destination for vacationers and for incentive tour operators. This has been borne out not only by the increasing number of visitors from Germany but also by the arrivals from the rest of the world too, which are expected to exceed four million in 2007. Growth prospects are very promising because of the country`s stable political situation and a steadily improving business and investment climate. The ITB Berlin is the ideal platform for convincing prospective holidaymakers of the unique tourism attractions of this destination.”

As the partner country of the ITB Berlin 2008, the Dominican Republic will be organising the opening ceremonies on Tuesday, 4 March, as well as being prominently featured on various stages during the trade show, with several events and some culinary delights too.

In addition to the Ministry of Tourism’s pavilion in Hall 3.1, the Caribbean Hall, numerous other representatives from the private sector will be staging their own presentations at the ITB Berlin on an area occupying some 500 square metres.
