Thessaloniki-based Doucas<.> Tours has proceeded with a share capital increase as part of a reorganisation of the company which began in January last year and ends in 2001.

Its share capital was boosted by 50 million drachmas to 155 million drachmas.

Already, Doucas Tours has upgraded data processing facilities at its Halkidiki office, enabling the full automation of the firm`s operations.

Last year, the company catered to more than 65,000 travellers, mostly from abroad. The most popular packages were the cruises to Mt Athos and the resort town of Toroni, chosen by 12,000 and 9,000 individuals respectively, while the tour of Thessaloniki city followed with 6,000.

In Halkidiki, Doucas Tours represents leading tour operators such as Thomson Travel, First Choice, ITS, Air Conti, Billa Reisen, Oeger Tours, Hotelplan, Apollo-Austria, Kompas, Berge & Meer, Amathus Holidays and Vacances Heliades. The Greek firm offers these organisations a wide range of services such as support in hotel reservations, transfers and the provision of day trips.

Doucas Tours was established in Thessaloniki in 1885 as a maritime agency and today is considered one of the country`s top tourist companies. It comprises three sections covering tourism, travel and convention organisation and employs 45 experienced staff. It serves more than 110,000 Greek and foreign clients annually.
