Ferry lines create tourism packages

Greece…

Greece’s coastal shipping sector has found a new way to increase passenger traffic. Along with the introduction of new, super fast ferries, the country’s largest ferry lines have added enticing tourism package s to their list of products.
Superfast Ferries and Strintzis Lines, major players in the Greece-Italy routes, have added more rich packages to their base list this year. For example, Superfast now promotes five-day packages to Rome, Florence, Venice, Milan and Napoli.
Strintzis Lines also enriched its ‘Hotel and Ferry’ package program to Greek destinations. A strong emphasis is placed on Kefalonia where the ferry line has its own hotel and agreements with 30 others.
Anek Lines has a similar Hotel and Ferry package program for Greek destinations but the full force of the program will not be felt until late this summer when Anek absorbs four smaller ferry lines (Rethymnaki, Lane, Dane, Nel) into its computer reservations system. Anek purchased stakes this year in all four lines.
Minoan Lines, another major player on the Greek-Italy route as well as on the Athens-Crete route, will expand its packages greatly this year in cooperation with its recently-purchased airline, Air Greece. Packages will include Greece-Germany as the airline begins to fly scheduled flights there soon.
