A French source Monday ruled out a terrorist act was behind the crash of the Egyptian Flash Airlines plane.

The representative of the French Embassy in Cairo and member of the French coordination team said the plane plunged 400 meters deep into a shark-infested spot in the Red Sea on the brink of an area that is 1200 meters deep. If the plane wreckage fell into this abyss, it would be a big problem in the search operations, he said.

The current investigations and the finding of the black boxes would make things clear as far as the plane`s condition and maintenance works are concerned, he added.

Pilots union warns against jumping to conclusion

An Egyptian senior pilot warned on Monday of speculations about the reasons that caused the Egyptian Boeing 737 to whirl down into the Red Sea early on Saturday after departure from Sharm El-Sheikh Airport.

In statements on Monday, Pilots Union Chairman Kamal Rifai said the speculations that jump on the reasons of the crash can affect the investigations and analyses and also the civil aviation in general.

Results of search for the plane recorders should be awaited first to know the truth, said Rifai. The only thing that can be figured out from the accident is that the pilot was overtaken by something sudden so that he could not send any SOS signals to the control tower before plunging into the sea, he said.
