Cologne/Bonn Airport has published an extensive increase in passengers of 43% in the year 2003. This increase is based on the success of the no frills airlines departing from Cologne/Bonn. The largest airline at this airport located at the west of Germany in the region with the highest population is Germanwings. “We are proud that we have contributed to a large extend to this result”, Dr Joachim Klein, Managing Director of Germanwings stated. More than 2,4 Million passengers travelled on Germanwings last year from Cologne/Bonn.

“With this development we have proved together with the Airport Cologne/Bonn and other partners, that the idea of no frills travel at low prices is even in times of economic difficulties generating additional demand”
, Dr. Klein added.

The Airport Cologne/Bonn has also published their traffic figures: 7,84 Million passengers have departed from Cologne. The airport expects an increase in 2004 by more than 10%.
