Glascow city taxis providing boost for tourism

Throughout August and September Glasgow cabs, Glasgow International Airport and Queen Street Station will all feature prominent VisitScotland branding.

Glasgow’s Black Cabs will be flying the flag for tourism and highlighting the facilities of VisitScotland Information Centres as part of a £60,000 marketing drive by the organisation.

Throughout August and September Glasgow cabs, Glasgow International Airport and Queen Street Station will all feature prominent VisitScotland branding. The campaign will promote Scotland’s network of Information Centres nationwide and locations in the city including George Square and Glasgow International Airport.

In order to improve the visitor experience, VisitScotland has invested £245,000 into upgrading, refurbishing and creating greater signage in the Information Centre network, including the provision in the George Square Centre.

The marketing campaign is expected to be seen by 100 million people and build on the 160,000 visitors who were welcomed into the George Square Centre last year.

Research into customer visits to VisitScotland information Centres has shown that every visitor generates an additional £5.35 for the local economy as a result of the information they receive.

Liz Buchannon, VisitScotland Regional Director said: “The VisitScotland information Centre provides a vital tool in helping to not just meet the expectation of visitors but also exceeding them. Face-to-face contact is still an integral part of the holiday experience hence we have a number of local experts on hand who have a wealth of knowledge on days out, things to see and do, places to eat and of course where to stay.

“This latest marketing drive underlines our commitment and ensures visitors are able to access information no matter what channel they decide to use.”
