GlobalStar introduces four new partners at Global Conference

Peter Klebanow, Chairman of GlobalStar Travel Management, introduced to the organization its 4 newest partners as GlobalStar continues to strengthen the network. Over 90 participants were present at this year’s annual conference in Macau in May-2009.

Austria, Czech Republic and Slovakia are represented by Business Travel Unlimited (BTU). Halcon Viajes (part of Globalia Group) is GlobalStar’s new partner for Spain. FlyAway Travel joined as the partner for Poland, Zenith Travel Services became the representative for Nepal.

During the three day event, partners from over 60 countries heard from members of the company’s newly formed Global Executive Team, who outlined sweeping new plans for the coming year.  This years conferences theme; “Growth through Change” was the driving concept behind the conference content. Many GlobalStar partners created substantial growth in this time of economic downturn through change. Several partners presented case studies illustrating their recent successes in signing new multinational clients and achieving substantial savings for existing ones by changing business processes.

One conference presentation, titled “How Do I Change to make my Profit Grow,” delivered by Jamie Pherous, MD, GlobalStar Australia, demonstrated how he increased net income in spite of a challenging environment by combining cost reductions and higher gross margins. “The most important thing to keep in mind in reducing expenses is not to sacrifice market strengths and competitive advantages in the process,” explained Pherous, adding: “Identify the drivers which make the most difference to profitability, and separate those you can and cannot control.”  Examples of controllable items included winning new business and renegotiating with suppliers, whereas reductions in client spend fell into the second category. “Another key success factor is involvement by the front line agents in developing, communicating and monitoring the plan,” added Pherous. As a result GlobalStar Australia managed to grow new client sales by 30% from July-08 to date. Following the presentation, partners commented on how they could apply his strategies in their own local markets.

Next year’s conference will be held in Brazil and hosted by GlobalStar Latin America.
