Greek Tourism Minister: Greece will not be another Costa Del Sol

“In an era that the hottest issue of the international community is climate change and the destruction of the natural environment, it would be at least outdated not to take these measures that will secure the sustainability of the Greek tourism,” said Mr. Spiliotopoulos at his speech.

“We are obliged to protect our “first source” of our tourism product and this is the environment. Moreover, green tourism is the trend in the investments sector. Our target is to break the stereotype of the past, the one that promotes the development without any respect to the cultural identity, environment, architecture and the tradition of each region.

“Tourism is our chance to promote the natural and cultural environment of our country. Itsthechancetorepair the mistakes of the past.”

The event took place in the framework of the 2nd International Tourism & Property Show 2008. The show takes place from 22 – 24 February 2008 in Athens, Greece.
