Students to benefit from increased access and discounted rentals

Hertz is first to drop minimum car rental age to 19 across Europe

Hertz Europe has lowered the minimum age for students renting a vehicle to 19 years. Students will also enjoy an exclusive 15% discount on car rentals and 20% discount on vans on selected models booked online via www.hertz.co.uk/students. With this introduction, Hertz becomes the first car rental company to offer students aged nineteen and over a clear and consistent vehicle rental offer across multiple countries in Europe.

“Hertz is the first car rental company to offer consistent pricing across Europe for younger drivers. We are pleased to extend our competitive prices and car rental convenience to a whole new market segment of leisure customers,” said Michel Taride, President Hertz Europe.

The university holidays and the end of the academic year are fast approaching and many students have two things on their minds – what to do for the summer and how they’re going to move all their belongings out of their existing accommodation. The reduction in age means that students over the age of nineteen have a solution to both problems with car and van hire now available to them from Hertz.

Cars available for rental by students include the Ford Fiesta and Ford Focus and vans include the Vauxhall Combo van and the Ford Transit Connect.

The reduction in rental age and promotion will be implemented across Europe in destinations including Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland & the UK and to students who present student identification and have held a full driving license for a minimum of one year.

“Since the age reduction is effective across a number of countries students can get behind the wheel both at home and abroad – but first, many will need to address the problem of transporting their belongings home or to new accommodation,” said Lesley Lindberg, Vice President of Marketing, Hertz Europe. “Many rely on using public transport to move their possessions or ask parents to help out. By reducing the minimum rental age to nineteen, students gain independence and can avoid involving their parents – no doubt a relief for all involved!”
