Increase in visitors on first two days of World Travel Market

A nearly 9% rise in visitor figures on the first two days of World Travel Market at ExCeL, compared to the same period last year, is a positive indication of the international industry support for this year’s event at its new state of the art ‘home’, Fiona Jeffery, Group Exhibition Director said on Wednesday.



This is very good news and demonstrates the success of the largest marketing and communications programme ever undertaken by World Travel Market to attract quality visitors.



The total number of Meridian Club buyers and senior industry management to World Travel Market on Monday and Tuesday this week is 11,331. Of these, 42% were from overseas.



Exhibitor stand personnel numbers has also increased in comparison to last year to 17,115, a rise of nearly 11%.



On both days, the total number of badged participants attending were around 24,000. This does not include other VIP guests, such as Ambassadors, Government Ministers and other industry leaders.



During Monday and Tuesday, there were 2,144 media, a slight increase over last year, of which more than 30% were international.



Ms. Jeffery said that she was extremely pleased at the early visitor numbers for World Travel Market’s at ExCeL.



There are record numbers of exhibitors and countries as well as much improved figures for visitors on Monday and Tuesday.



Combined with the excellent and highly enthusiastic feedback from exhibitors and visitors, who are full of praise for ExCeL and its much improved facilities, these results are very encouraging.




Exhibition space has increased by almost 12% with more than 5,000 exhibitors. The event is a record size, with a record number of new companies (143) and a record number of countries (185).
