Introduction of Thomson Active Holidays for summer 2010

Package holidays have come a long way from the days of just sun, sea and sand and, according to a Mintel report, many British consumers are now looking for ‘soft adventure travel’ that involves an element of sport or exploration combined with some rest and relaxation. In response to this growing trend, Thomson is incorporating its beach club range into its Active brochure for summer 2010.

Alex Loftus, Head of Product for Thomson, comments, "We recognise that many of our customers seek differentiated experiences with trustworthy brands that provide excellent value for money. The launch of Active holidays offers customers the chance to learn a new activity or enjoy an existing sporting interest while holidaying abroad and take advantage of the great facilities that we at Thomson have specially selected with the customer in mind."

Thomson’s Active features four hotels in Majorca, Menorca, Fuerteventura and Crete that have been selected for the range and level of sports they offer. All come complete with exceptional facilities, a variety of different sporting activities and personal coaches or professional trainers, to suit your active needs. All hotels are rated 4T or 5T, so everything else, from the food to the service, is just as impressive.

Each property has different specialties, so while one hotel may feature eight flood-lit tennis courts and expert coaches, another will have a diving school with professional diving instructors to guide beginners through their first underwater experience. The brochure illustrates which resorts are most suitable for specific activities, by marking each property with a ‘Great for…’ logo, letting you know which are best for diving, tennis or fitness. What’s more, while some of the properties are ideal for couples, others are perfectly suited for families, with kids clubs available on site offering entertainment and activity programmes for a variety of age groups.
