The Greek government together with the Hellenic Organization for Tourism (EOT) is moving ahead with plans to promote more investment in the tourism sector and in such a framework more privatizations of EOT-owned property is due to take place. Real estate such as the Xenia Hotel, and other land in areas such as Lagonisi is expected to undergo large development projects that will certainly revitalize the areas, generate jobs as well as create better opportunities in the tourism industry as a whole.

At the same time ventures are being explored and it is expected that some 150 billion drachmas will be allocated for this purpose in the first phase alone. It needs to be noted that the area of POTA Messinia alone is going to in the first stages absorb some 60 billion drachmas in funds to develop all tourism works which in the final stages will total no more than 200 billion drachmas when the area is fully operational.
