Budapest Airport welcomed Jet2.com’s second scheduled service to the Central European hub on 21st April when the UK’s fastest growing airline landed at 10.35 on the first flight in a year round schedule between Edinburgh, Scotland, and Budapest, Hungary. The new route will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays through the summer, and move to twice a week, Thursdays and Sundays, in the winter. The new service is in addition to the existing direct and daily schedule that already operates between Budapest and Manchester.
Jost Lammers, CEO of Budapest airport commented: “We are very pleased that Jet2.com have increased their capacity to the UK with the addition of the Edinburgh route. The scheduling benefits both business and leisure travellers and with a year round offering presents increased flexibility for passengers. We know that Budapest is a very popular city break destination from the UK, and as one of the most visited cities in Europe we are confident this route will do well.”
Jet2.com’s Managing Director Ian Doubtfire, MD of Jet2.com was on the inaugural flight and commented: “We are delighted to have begun this exciting new route directly linking Budapest and the city of Edinburgh. The route offers travellers from the Budapest area the chance to visit the beautiful country of Scotland with a fast and efficient, award-winning service.” The aircraft was welcomed with a water cannon salute on arrival, and the crew were presented with a cake to commemorate the new service.
