EIBTM is to host the first Joint Meetings Industry Council (JMIC) Profile and Power Award at this year`s EIBTM Awards Ceremony during EIBTM in Barcelona. This new award will recognise outstanding initiatives by companies or individuals in the promotion of the meetings industry to its local, regional or national community (including the general public, political institutions and the business world).
The JMIC is a body of 13 multinational meeting industry organisations, seeking to promote industry awareness to a global audience with a special focus on policy makers and business press in particular. JMIC members include: AIPC, IAPCO, ICCA, AIVFC, COCAL, EFCT, MPI and SITE.
Barbara Maple, president of the JMIC and of the AIPC and GM of the Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre comments: The Profile and Power Award will be made by JMIC on an annual basis to a group or individual whose activities exemplify the spirit of this programme; namely, the need to build awareness of the Meetings Industry and it`s benefits amongst governments and communities worldwide.
We are therefore delighted that we can use EIBTM as our platform for this award as we believe the event truly represents the global meetings industry. We believe that the Award will serve to both encourage others to get involved in industry promotional activities and provide case studies that will be of use as they plan their own events. We expect there will be no lack of suitable candidates.
EIBTM will take place from 29th November – 1st December 2005, in Barcelona (venue: Fira Gran Via).
