“Place your bids to own one of the most exquisite and stunning diamonds in the world – and raise money for the industry’s water-aid charity Just a Drop!” said Fiona Jefery, Just a Drop founder and chairman of World Travel Market. A  world-class Gassan 121 diamond, worth £10,000, is to be auctioned at World Travel Market at ExCeL London on the Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions stand (EM 4000) on Tuesday 13 November at 17.00hrs.

The money raised by selling the glittering top auction item to the highest bidder, will be used to help stop the terrible toil of dying children in countries worldwide by providing protected wells and clean water. But the auction is not just restricted to World Travel Market.

Bidders can log on to the Just a Drop website click on events and view the latest bid. Then all bidders have to do is email Just a Drop Co-ordinator Ana Sustelo with their bid. These bids will be taken to the live auction at WTM where the bid will start at £500.

Fiona Jeffery said she could not thank Holland and the other exhibitors who are raising money during World Travel Market week for Just a Drop.

“We gave the charity the name Just a Drop because a small amount of money can make a real difference to the lives of thousands. A bid of just £1,000 at the Holland auction, for example, would help to provide clean water to a thousand children for as long as ten years; £7,500 builds a full-working well for a village thereby improving the health and prosperity of the community and reducing the long distances women and children have to trek for clean water.”

“I cannot stress how desperately this money is needed”, added Jeffery. “Tragically, a child dies every 17 seconds somewhere in the world because of a lack of clean water. Thanks to the generosity of volunteers and unlike many other charities, virtually none of the money raised for Just a Drop goes to administration.”

“A number of exhibitors have come forward already to help at this year’s World Travel Market but we can always accept more. We are looking for exhibitors to raise money for Just a Drop with draws, competitions, events and donations. We try our best to help and support everyone who raises money for Just a Drop with advice, via the Just a Drop website and through press relations. I appeal to WTM delegates to spend just a few moments by giving a little – or a lot – to Just a Drop.”

Mr. Andrew van der Feltz, Director UK & Ireland, Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions said that the prize diamonds are uniquely cut in Amsterdam by Gassan Diamonds.

“We in Holland, as with many other nations, are lucky enough never to have to worry about the source and safety of life`s most basic necessity. By using one of Holland`s and in particular Amsterdam`s most valuabe assets, in this case a 121 Gassan Diamond, we hope to raise enough funds to be able to make a difference to the lives of those desperate for life`s most valuable asset,” he said.

An auction will also take place in aid of Just a Drop at this year’s World Travel Market Captains of Industry Lunch, sponsored by Oman Tourist Office (invitation only) on Monday 12 November, hosted by the television presenter Alastair Stewart.

Other exhibitors helping to raise funds for Just a Drop at World Travel Market include: Israel Government Tourist Office, Romania National Tourist Office, Newspics and Trinidad & Tobago.
