KLM<.> will terminate flights to Malmo in southern Sweden at the start of the winter schedule on October 28. With the opening of the new bridge over the Sont, connecting Sweden and Denmark, the area around Malmo has gained convenient access to Copenhagen`s Kastrup airport. Passengers from Malmo can, in fact, get to Kastrup far more quickly via the bridge than they could to Malmo`s own airport.

To accommodate the passenger volume from southern Sweden, KLM will deploy larger aircraft on its five daily flights between Amsterdam and Copenhagen. The Fokker-50 capacity made available by the termination of KLM cityhopper services to Malmo, will be used to raise frequency on routes to Bremen, Bristol, Brussels and Luxembourg.

This adjustment of European operations is in line with KLM`s policy to fully optimize network exploitation and capacity deployment.
