When asked about the choice of venue, John Platanias the General Manager of A.P.G. Hellas, Maersk Air`s General Sales Agent in Greece, said We wanted to share with our clients, travel agents and Tour Operators the opportunity to visit the nearly completed airport. For many it was their first chance to see the facilities. Their response to our invitation was overwhelming.
Maersk Air guests included the travel agents and tour operators who contributed in Maersk Air`s success during the first year together with Scandinavian diplomats and businessmen based in Greece.
Approximately 100 people were welcomed by Dr. J. Schill the C.E.O. of A.I.A. and on behalf of Maersk Air Mr Keld Mosgaard Christensen, Head of Scheduled Services who travelled from Copenhagen for the occasion. Both gentlemen made a brief presentation on the progress made by their respective companies.
Maersk Air with its daily operation from Copenhagen to Athens and one of the most modern fleets in Europe, coupled with the excellent service provided by the well trained flight crews and ground staff has established a firm foothold both in the Greek and Danish markets.
Maersk Air is continuously expanding its international destinations and is at this moment introducing 2 new routes:

* From 09th April 2000 daily flights Billund – Dublin – Billund
