Swissport Zurich is to have a new CEO: Marcel Hungerbuhler. The former SWISS executive assumes his new position, in which he will bear overall coordination responsibility for Swissport`s three Swiss stations, on May 1. He succeeds Urs Sieber, who has been named Head of Division Europe (including Switzerland) at Swissport International, and has simultaneously been appointed to Group Executive Management.

Swissport is delighted to have secured the services of Marcel Hungerbuhler as CEO of Swissport Zurich and coordinator of the Swissport Group`s activities in Switzerland. With his extensive knowledge of the air transport business and his many years as a Swissair and SWISS route manager, the new appointee is an excellent addition to the existing management team.

Hungerbuhler, who is 53 years old, served most recently as SWISS`s Head of Sales & Marketing for Asia and the Middle East. His extensive air transport career has also included executive assignments abroad as head of Swissair`s UK & Ireland and Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia organisations.

Alongside overall operational responsibility for Swissport Zurich with its over 60 airline customers, Marcel Hungerbuhler`s prime duties in his new Swissport position will include developing the successful collaboration with SWISS, further enhancing workflows and procedures with all airport partners and tapping new business areas. Swissport Switzerland, which comprises the Swissport Group`s Zurich, Geneva and Basel stations, has a total workforce of some 3 000 personnel, serves 75 airline customers and generates annual business revenues of around CHF 400 million.
