Leicester Shire Promotions has appointed Maria Chaideftou as its new Tourism Development Manager (City and Visitor Services). This new appointment further strengthens the team set up to support tourism businesses in the city and county, and will provide a dedicated resource for city organisations involved in the visitor services and tourism industries.
Maria will be responsible for business development and support, management of visitor services within the destination including Leicester Tourist Information Centre, and coordination/liaison with other visitor information services across the sub-region.
Leicester city centre is being transformed with over £3 billion worth of investment in a range of major regeneration projects, led by organisations including Leicester City Council, Hammerson and the Leicester Regeneration Company. This major investment will have a significant impact on the tourism offering in the city and Maria will work closely with these key partners to further develop these long-standing relationships.
Maria joins Leicester Shire Promotions from Springboard UK Limited, where she was responsible for promoting careers in leisure, hospitality, travel and tourism. Prior to this, she worked in the travel industry for TRX Europe in customer service and ticketing, and has a Masters qualification in Social Anthropology of Development, specialising in tourism development.

Leicester Shire Promotions` team of Tourism Development Managers are responsible for strategic development of district areas within the destination, delivery of the District Blueprints, ensuring businesses are encouraged and supported to develop and realise business opportunities, the promotion of quality and excellence, emphasising the importance of the visitor journey, visitor economy and service excellence, encouraging participation and active involvement in marketing and promotional campaigns, and in the company`s membership schemes.
