MATTA (the Malaysian Association of Tour & Travel Agents) is privileged to join the travel and tourism industry of Malaysia in welcoming all delegates and participants to the 3-day Commonwealth Travel Mart (CTM), to be held at the Malaysia International Exhibition & Convention Centre (MIECC) starting 19 March 2004 in conjunction with the inaugural Commonwealth Tourism Ministers` Conference at Palace of Golden Horses Hotel from 18-21 March.



With a membership of over 1,700 companies, MATTA has played a key role in promoting inbound, domestic and outbound tourism activities like the MITF-MATTA International Travel Fair, travel marts and tourism business exchange visits.



For CTM, MATTA will be handling ground transportation for all the delegates, buyers and sellers taking part in the travel mart. Whether it`s during their arrival, departure or city tour, MATTA will provide the best to ensure all the delegates will enjoy a pleasant experience.



In addition, MATTA is also committed to securing as many exhibitors as possible to participate in the travel mart and take the 282 booths available. NTOs of Commonwealth countries and participating airlines are advised to act fast if keen to have one of the 100 booths allocated to them at no cost.



The remaining 182 booths are for sale to private agents, hoteliers and others. Private sector representatives from non-Commonwealth countries are also encouraged to highlight and promote their best products at the travel mart.



MATTA believes that CTM will foster better relationships among member countries in the tourism industry and among the peoples of the Commonwealth. The CTM acts as the perfect platform for suppliers and buyers of tourism products and services, as well as members of the Commonwealth countries to showcase their best tourism products and services, thus further expand their businesses.



At the recent ATF (ASEAN Tourism Forum) 2004 at Ventiane, Laos, MATTA announced the upcoming CTM in March. Besides that, 2,500 invitations and mails have already been sent out. To date, over 30 countriess have confirmed their participation while some 50 booths have been taken by local organisations.



The coming weeks will see MATTA re-doubling efforts to attract participation in the CTM from countries like Australia, Fiji, Maldives, Pakistan, Canada, Cyprus, and South Africa. This task is getting their top priority and a testimony of MATTA`s full support for the event.
