The merchant marine ministry has announced it intends to issue a new sailing permit for car passenger ferries on the Corfu-Paxi-Lefkada-Ithaki-Kefalonia-Zakynthos route.
Applicants must meet the sea transport department`s requirements, namely:
The ship must be 20 years old or less or must be a recognised Greek ferry.
The vessel must be able to carry 600 or more passengers.
It must be able to carry the equivalent of 150 passenger vehicles.
It must be of a size which allows safe docking at all ports of the route.
