Minoan<.> Flying Dolphins has taken delivery of the first of three Highspeed ferries built by the Australian firm Austal. The Greek flag was raised on the vessel Highspeed 2 which is expected to begin servicing routes in the Aegean by mid-June. The ferry, which can carry 650 passengers in VIP, business and economy class as well as 75 vehicles, will be the fastest vessel in its class plying the Aegean at an average speed of 39 knots.

Highspeed 3 and 4 will likely arrive in mid-June and take up their duties in the Cyclades, departing from Piraeus and Rafina ports, at the start of July.

Travelling time to the islands of Syros, Tinos, Mykonos, Paros, Naxos, Kythnos, Serifos, Sifnos and Milos is expected to be reduced by half.
