One of the five major travel and tourism exhibitions in the world and the leading one in Russia, MITT will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year. Since its launch in 1994 MITT has been growing in size and reputation year after year starting with 800 exhibitors, 50 countries and 60.000 visitors in 1994. MITT 2003 will now occupy over 18.000 sqm net in total, attracting over 2.500 of the top names in the travel industry from 106 countries.

MITT has grown 3.000 sqm compared with the year before. Significant growth was recorded from Mediterranean, Far East and Middle East destinations. NTO`s from Dubai, Egypt, Dominican Republic, Greece, Lithuania and Tunisia increased their space by 20-30%. Turkey now occupies the whole of Pavilion 3, stretching on 3 000 sqm. National Tourist Organisations who will exhibit this year for the first time are from China, Qatar, Algeria, Sweden and Norway; new regional boards are from Goa and Rome.

The Global Village is MITT new feature for 2003. It represents multinational deluxe hotels and resort groups. This will boost the profile of Mitt`s `regulars` such as the Leading Hotels of the World Group, Le Meridien, Kempinski and Radisson SAS and newcomers such as Starwood Hotels and Resorts and Hyatt Hotels.

MITT 2003 forms part of a whole week of activities centred round the Travel & Tourism industry of the Russian & CIS region. The Business and Incentive Travel seminar on the 25th March is being organised by the WTO and the Tourism Department of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation (supported by ITE Travel Exhibitions). The State Duma and the Tourism of Russia Interfractional Deputies Association will organise a round table The Role of Parliament in Developing of Tourism. The Association of Business Tourism will hold a conference on Business Tourism and MICE with the participation of the State Duma Culture and Tourism Committee. There will also be presentations and seminars from most NTO and private companies.

To commemorate its 10th anniversary, ITE Travel Exhibitions has organised a gala dinner at the New Opera Theatre in Moscow. Festivities include a concert and Oscar style 5th Russian Travel Awards ceremony, organised in conjunction with TTG-Russia. This year Hertz will once again sponsor the Best Russian Travel Agency category.

Stanislava Blagoeva-Duchell, the director of ITE Travel Exhibitions says, `We are very proud that MITT has become so successful over the past 10 years. The Russian market continues to grow and Russia has now established itself as key player in both inbound and outbound tourism. We are confident that MITT will once again produce outstanding results for our exhibitors and visitors.
