New airport seen as gateway to Europe

The new Eleftherios Venizelos airport under construction at Spata<.>, in Athens, Greece has the capacity to become a hub airport linking the countries of the eastern Mediterranean, the Middle and Far East with Europe, says Stelios Golemis, chairman of Goldair Handling`s board of directors. Speaking at a recent press conference, he asserted that European airports had reached saturation point in that they cannot expand any further in order to deal with the increased air traffic. Golemis said it should be recognised that Greece`s new facility can help meet that need.
